When is Daylight Savings Time in...
Most countries observe Daylight Savings time because it has been determined more daylight hours save energy. Because of different climates and different hemispheres, daylight savings time begins and ends at different times in different countries.
For instance, daylight savings time begins in the U.S. around the same time it ends in New Zealand. This is because the seasons are the opposite below the equator of what they are above the equator. Some countries have long daylight savings time periods, like the U.S. and other have short ones, like Jordan. Interestingly, some countries don't wait until the weekend to turn their clocks ahead and back. Such a country is Egypt. In Egypt, DST starts on May 1st and ends on September 30th and that's it. If it starts on a Monday, you go to work tired, that's all.
Below is a chart showing all the different daylight savings time schedules around the globe.
* Some parts of Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory, do not observe daylight savings.
